Taking a break from the usual.
I had a pretty good Saturday yesterday.
The Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MAGIC), Cyberjaya
My morning began with DevCon.
I estimate over 400 people attended.
An open, full-day event that offers 8 free technology workshops to the general public.
Of the 8 workshops, I chose the:
'Intro to Data Science using Python'.
I managed to learn some high-level concepts. Namely, Python is a programming language that allows for data to be visualized in a beautiful, simple and readable manner.
Still, it was too technical for me to follow.
So I decided to leave early for my next activity.
On the way out, I saw this.
LOL... The things that catches my attention doing the things I do. 😏
At least a thousand solar panels lay neatly atop the carpark rooftops.
I nerded away... taking a good 10 minutes admiring the installation, observing the equipment, the workmanship and followed the cable route all the way to the electric room to see where the electricity is sent to.
Hmm... I didn't know Huawei had inverters.
I left with a smile.
My next destination was an unfamiliar one. Balakong.
From what I know, Balakong is a boring place; mostly known for factories and mills.
But here I am looking for Amerin Mall, a shopping centre with a cinema I never heard of.
Why? Because I have been invited by to watch a charity screening of THE AVENGERS!!!
Organised by the CyberCare Youth Organization, this charity helps to support and transform the social welfare of under-privileged children. Underprivileged as in they were either orphaned, abandoned or stateless.
I think this charity has done amazing job!
In fact, I can say they have overdone themselves.
These kids are a vibrant, exuberant bunch. They don't look underprivileged at all. A clear sign of the impact this charity has made in their lives.
I think I might be keen to participate in this group more.
Such a small world! I met a former client of mine, Tim Lee, here.
He is the Treasurer for the charity organization. It was quite funny to observe how the kids go to Tim asking for permission to spend money. He is the money man.
Side note.
The movie, in my opinion, was AWESOME!
No spoilers. Just go watch it.
As far as superhero movies go, I give 'Avengers: Infinity Wars' an easy 10 out of 10.
The day is not over.
I am now heading over to Liberal Latte at the other end of town.
HF Badger
Thanks to , I get to enjoy another musical performance by Bob aka HF Badger. He sang three songs:
- Dreams by The Corrs / Fleetwood Mac
- OCD, by HF Badger
- I forgot... something about mustering the courage to ask a girl out.
To me, his vocals sound like Chris Martin from Coldplay.
I'd listen to his music if I heard it on the radio.
He doesn't seem confident when introducing himself.
But he sings well. Like , he lets loose when he sings.
And they let themselves get lost in the music.
I like that quality in singers.
Next up, demonstrates his super dope caricature skills.
He drew three sets of drawings for:
- Adel, a Universiti Malaya student originally from Egypt / Saudi.
- Neina, also a Universiti Malaya student who was having her birthday that evening.
- Hajar, chemist who is flying off to London to further her studies that night.
After the art demonstration, capped off the evening by explaining Steemit to the young ones.
And my Saturday concludes.
Buzz
Hi, my name is Jason aka @buzz.lightyear. I envision a future where renewable energy is our main source of electricity in this lifetime; reducing the largest contributor of carbon emissions by 90% and bringing our global temperatures back to its natural balance.
I believe that this is no easy task but it is achievable with your support.
I am developing an open blockchain that incentivises both producers and consumers of renewable energy and am looking to collaborate with brilliant minds who share this vision so that we can create a future where it just makes sense to go 100% renewable, visit your local store, buy some latest tech and generate energy for your own use and for others.
