Lima, City of Kings / Lima, Ciudad de Reyes
Lima is known as the City of Kings. A curious fact is that it’s the second-largest capital in the world built on a desert, surrounded by dead, vegetation-less hills that were taken over as informal settlements by migrants escaping terrorism in the 1980s or searching for opportunities, studies, or work.
That’s why Lima now has around 15 million inhabitants in a country of just over 33 million. It’s strange — beautiful cities outside the capital don’t even reach one million people, stuck in the past with no real evolution. And even Lima itself doesn’t quite become the metropolis it should be.
Peru is like a hen sitting on golden eggs, while corruption finds its way through everything. The only ones who benefit are always the same — a dictatorship disguised as a democracy.
I don’t like speaking badly about my country, but sometimes you have to show the world how things really are.

Lima, Ciudad de Reyes / Lima, City of Kings
Lima ciudad de reyes la llaman. Un dato curioso es que Lima es la segunda capital más grande del mundo construida sobre un desierto, rodeada de cerros muertos sin vegetación que fueron usados como terrenos invadidos por migrantes que buscaban escapar del terrorismo que azotó al país en los años 80, o buscando oportunidades, estudio o trabajo.
Por eso Lima hoy tiene cerca de 15 millones de habitantes en un país que apenas pasa los 33 millones. Algo extraño: ciudades hermosas fuera de la capital que no llegan ni al millón de habitantes, estancadas en el pasado sin evolución. Y Lima misma ni siquiera llega a ser una metrópolis como debería.
El Perú es como la gallina viviendo sobre los huevos de oro, donde la corrupción se abre paso y los únicos beneficiados son los mismos de siempre: una dictadura disfrazada de democracia.
No me gusta hablar mal de mi país, pero a veces hay que mostrar al mundo tal cual son las cosas.
