I love painting splashy critters!
At 's suggestion, I tried playing with Australian wildlife for subjects. It was surprisingly hard! Maybe because although I have seen these creatures in film & television, they're not prevalent in my day-to-day visuals, and I've of course never seen them in real life.
I have HEARD a koala before. It was terrifying. I had just had a lovely (read: terrible) shower in the camp showers at Booderee Ntl Park and was scuttling out in the dark to find my way back to the van when I heard it. I could tell it was above me in a bigass tree but I could not see it. If you haven't heard a koala, look it up. They sound like monsters.
Anyway, that brings me 'round to my first somewhat successful Aussie critter painting! Mr. Koala!
Watercolour & ink.
I tend to like to paint my splashy critters in action(ish) poses. But, for some reason I loved how the Koala looked just chillin. I feel like he's saying something like "I dunno, man, what do you want to do?"
Soooo chill.
Thanks for checking out my newbie painting work! If you like it please leave an upvote, comment, and follow if you would like to see more! Cheers and many thanks!
