Bone Out From Boneville is the first volume of the Bone series comics. There are countless ones at this point but they were a huge hit when they were released, especially for the young generations. The story is cute and follows three cousins as they try to reunite with each other and wander through the wilderness.
The creator Jeff Smith has a unique style to his artwork that definitely falls in line with other classic comics but also adds a bit of a cartoon feel as well. Bone could probably have worked great as a saturday morning cartoon as well as it did as a comic series.
The characters in the comic, especially the bone cousins are pretty cute and likeable from the beginning to the end. This comic is made for a younger audience so you arent going to get the complexity that you might get in a more mature graphic novel, but its a nice easy and brief read.
Like a few other of the comics and graphic novels I have mentioned, if you are looking to get someone you know that is younger into reading, especially around the middle school age, this would be a perfect series to do so. Not to mention it also creates nostalgia and keeps the hobby alive in general for another generation.
If you are an adult and looking for something that will blow your mind, this series probably isnt for you, but I generally read graphic novels and comics for the art so to me it is a nice piece to have in my collection. Sometimes I dont want to read something that is super stimulating and this is a perfect piece for those times.
