Recently, in the afternoon hours, I heard the loud sounds emitted by the male indicating that he is trying to copulate with a female and I took my camera to photograph them.

The male was chasing the female trying to mount on top of her, moving slowly behind or to the side of the female, but the female was busy walking to stop occasionally to eat some plant shoots.
El macho perseguía a la hembra tratando de montarse encima de ella, se desplazaba lentamente por detrás o por un costado de la hembra, pero la hembra se ocupaba de caminar para detenerse ocasionalmente a comer unos brotes de plantas.
The male's chase of the female was accompanied, in addition to loud sounds or vocalizations, by jerking head movements. On several occasions he tried to mount on the female but did not stay on her because the female continued walking.
La persecución del macho a la hembra estaba acompañada, además de los sonidos fuertes o vocalizaciones, por movimientos de cabeza con sacudidas. En varias ocasiones intentó montarse sobre la hembra pero no permanecía sobre ella porque la hembra continuaba caminando.
At some point, the male, in view of the failed attempts, approached the female with his face as if in a threatening attitude, and the female for her part ignored him, only continuing to eat plant shoots.
En algún momento, el macho ante los intentos fallidos, acercó su rostro a la hembra como en una actitud amenazadora, y la hembra por su parte hizo caso omiso, solo continuó comiendo brotes de plantas.
The male tried again but then simply did not continue trying.
El macho volvió a intentarlo pero luego sencillamente no continuó intentando.
The reality was that on this occasion the male did not achieve a successful mating perhaps because the female was not interested since there was no positive response. The female's behavior was oriented only to eating plant shoots.
La realidad fue que en esta ocasión el macho no logró un apareamiento exitoso quizás porque la hembra no estaba interesada ya que no hubo una respuesta positiva. La conducta de la hembra estaba orientada solo a comer brotes de plantas.
Finally, I show other photographs where differences between the tail of the female and the male can be appreciated. The female's tail is shorter and conical while the male's is longer and more muscular and contains the penis at its base. They also differ in that the anal plates or scutes around the tail form a wider angle in the male.
Finalmente muestro otras fotografías donde se aprecian diferencias entre la cola de la hembra y la del macho. La cola de la hembra es más corta y cónica mientras que la del macho es más larga y musculosa y en su base contiene el pene. También se diferencian en que las placas o escudos anales alrededor de la cola forman un ángulo más amplio en el macho.
