A few years ago I met a guy, over the years we have kept in contact with each other and he almost always seems so busy
A number of years ago I came accrost the pareto principle (proably more commonly called the 80-20 rule) Basicly the rule states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.
This is what I want people to see:
To keep the math simple say that each of us has a space of 100 hours to get 100 small jobs done. The above chart shows us that it should only take us 20 hours to finish the first 80 small jobs. And then for the next 80 hours people complete 20 more small jobs. Suppose that you get paid for each job that you do, it would be more prudent to only work for the first 20 hours.
Say that you are going to go fishing, and ther are two ponds that you can fish in. In the first pond you know that ther is 80 fish swiming around, and in the second pond you know that ther is 20 fish swiming around, which pond are you going to fish in?
The Bible talks about what I am saying in:
2 Timothy 2:4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.
There are two diffrent sets of jobs, there is the soldiers work and there is civilan work. The prudent soldier considers which job set he/she is going to work on.
Sometimes we just need to be honest and say 'that job is not worth my time' Sure you could spend an hour organizing the paper clips in your office desk by color, but if you think about it 5 min. and a paper bag will produce the same results.
The Bible says something that I think is applicable to this situation:
Proverbs 26:8-10
8Like one who binds a stone in a sling, So is he who gives honor to a fool. 9Like a thorn which falls into the hand of a drunkard, So is a proverb in the mouth of fools. 10Like an archer who wounds everyone, So is he who hires a fool or who hires those who pass by
Time is precious (so are other things) and some people are like a drunk man that picks up a thorn bush and tries to hit someone with it. If the drunk man was able to think clearly he would realize that the harder that he hits people with the thorn branch then the more it hurts him. Like other matters in life, people do not consider some of the things that they do and it hurts them, maby they can take it at first...but it is a loosing propisition!
