Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m here to share with you another day in our drawing class. This time, I’m bringing you a preview of the Agamograph technique from our next class. Since we’re studying Venezuelan kinetic art this week, I decided to use the Agamograph technique so the students could understand how the use of color and shapes can create a fascinating optical effect that generates the illusion of movement. The children started this activity last Monday, and today we had the chance to continue working on it.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por acá para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en la clase de dibujo. En esta ocasión les traigo el avance de la técnica del Agamógrafo en lo que fue nuestra siguiente clase. Para esta semana, como estamos viendo el arte cinético venezolano, decidí usar la técnica del Agamógrafo para que ellos pudieran entender cómo el uso del color y las formas pueden causar un efecto óptico bastante interesante, donde se genera un movimiento aparente. Los niños iniciaron esta actividad el pasado lunes y hoy tuvimos oportunidad de retomar esa tarea.
I had recorded a series of videos for you that I converted into GIFs so you could observe the children’s work more clearly, but unfortunately, for some reason, the Hive platform won’t let me upload any files. I don’t know if it’s a format issue or if it simply doesn’t allow it, although I remember having uploaded GIFs (my own personal ones) here before. Anyway, it just didn’t work out. However, I hope the images do justice to what the children did. Some were more daring with the images and colors, so the effect tends to be more noticeable in those thanks to the contrast.
It’s always fascinating to see their expressions shift from suspicion to surprise when they realize that what they were asked to do actually works. For example, we were working on this with one of the girls, and although she understood and followed the instructions, it wasn’t until she folded the parts of the Agamograph and observed the change from one image to the next that she truly felt satisfied and gave it her approval. Había grabado para ustedes una serie de videos que convertí en GIF para que pudieran observar el trabajo de los niños con mayor claridad, pero lamentablemente no sé qué sucede que por acá en la plataforma de Hive no me deja subir archivo alguno. No sé si es por cuestión del formato o que directamente no lo permite, aunque yo recuerdo haber subido GIF (personales míos) por aquí. En fin realmente no se pudo. Sin embargo, espero que las imágenes le hagan justicia a lo que hicieron los niños. Algunos fueron más atrevidos con respecto a las imágenes y el color, por lo que el efecto suele ser más notable en esos gracias al contraste.
Es siempre fascinante notar como sus expresiones cambian de la sospecha a la sorpresa, cuando observan que realmente funciona lo que se les ha pedido. Por ejemplo, con una de las niñas estuvimos haciendo ese trabajo y aunque entendió y siguió las instrucciones no fue hasta que dobló las partes del Agamógrafo y observó el cambio entre imagen a imagen, cuando realmente se sintió satisfecha y dio el visto bueno para ello.
