Happy Friday from Carol!
And a rather strange Friday it is. I'll move my formatting/Other problems to the end of this post. Here we go!
You feel lacking until you read something like this. True that I have on many an occasion read bits and pieces of what's happening. But until it's broken down, you don't got the epitome of desperation. What could be so bad, you are willing to take the risk of death? How hungry can you be, to steal food right out of someone else's hand? Reading
's Desperate prompt, really brought it home.
I was scanning the #freewrites from yesterday and came across this post by
on the prompt delegation. He got me thinking about the first time I found out about
and #freewrites from
. I went to her post and wrote that day, then the next day, and now I only post once a day, and it's only the #freewrite prompt as my subject. It's amazing how many twists I can turn the prompt into to enter contests, food categories, or just my like. Turn your newbie's on to this post by
if they have Steemit block. 😁
I love to recommend this story about camping.
As a parent, you always try to give your kids a break, a great time and it will bring up good and precious memories one day for sure.
It is the weekendfreewrite ofI want you to read. Each time I am surprised by her stories. They are about life itself but all sound like adventures to me and... there is always at least one fish mentioned!

She has discovered freewriting and I am happy she did. In her freewrite, she tells about her good friend Iris. A hard-working woman with a great heart, willing to help others. Not only her family but also the community. What touched me most of all is her faith (read her wise words and keep them in mind!) and the fact people did not let her down. They shared with her as well.
The freewrite started in the German language as well. We survived the first week and it would be great if more people join us.

It partly reminds me of animation about a "brave toaster" I saw years ago (who knows I still have it on videotape).
his series of freewrites is about kitchen machines and kitchen appliances (partly) forgotten. At the moment a spider moves in the first story starts. The spider is not welcomed by all of them and one by one the machines come alive (and start complaining).
In this part, the fridge doesn't feel well. Something left inside is about the expiration date.
I doubt it will smell better at the time you read this since I haven't read/seen the continuation of the story yet.
It is not a long story so easy to translate.

One of my favorite freewrite was
’s on desperate. He gave a good pep post about not begging but starting to empower yourself and don’t waste time on fruitless activities. A positive uplifting writeup. He pointed out each of us have something to offer. We should be searching it out and moving forward.
My 2nd recommendation is by Sharon
. She is a firm advocate for free writing. Sharon has been ill for quite awhile but slowly getting better. Her freewrite tells of some hard times when her son was small and how there is always sunshine after clouds. After being jobless for months a surprise comes via a good friend and her life improves greatly with a new job. Definitely a heart warming story showing the kindness of others helping in times of need.
got my attention with a nonfiction freewrite by a woman who sounds so competent, adventurous, and confident, I have to give her a big #ShoutOut:
We got up this morning and it was blowing 20 knots, my husband said he thinks he can find a place to fish down south where he is out of the wind. And he wanted to run his traps. I had a few pigfish in my holder and debated if I was going to go. I decided I could fish Melvas Island and be out of the wind so I went, too.

Don't miss
her photo at the end, of her first trout of the season. I am in awe!

You can usually count on large family gatherings at weddings and funerals. You wouldn't think that a funeral could be so funny but the one
experienced and writes about is hilarious, and one that everyone will always remember. This is a must read if you want a good laugh, even if it is at the expense of a loved one's death.

delivered a darkly comical story with a great twist at the end. Brent has not only his mother's funeral to cope with, he has a deranged sister as well:
Celia stared at the coffin as her brother stared at her. She was oblivious to his beseeching eyes, begging to do her part in honouring the woman who gave them everything. But he knew it was just a matter of time...
Celia couldn't contain the sadness, the pain, the hurt, the anger. She felt the tears sprouting, spilling. She was ready to explode. And she did.
“Let me go with her!!”
I love the line at the end: the only thing stopping him was.... NO SPOILER from me! You'll have to read the story.
Somewhere, long ago, I read a novel or saw a movie where a grieving woman threw herself into the grave of a loved one. Now I'm driving myself crazy wondering what it is I can't quite remember. Could have been an unpublished manuscript in an online fiction workshop years ago. I'm not suggesting your story was inspired by it, -- just saying I wish I could remember where I saw something that your story reminded me of.
As an editor, I can't resist pointing out just one line I would revise:
Her eyes were rolling around wildly, fighting with the demons within her.
I no longer remember the grammar term for it, but the subject and the verb don't match.
Her eyes fought the demons is how the syntax (sentence construction) reads.
On an even more trivial note, I would dispute that a human's eyes roll around wildly, except in cases of demonic possession or fiction (same thing, right? I hope, I hope.)
Please know that I am Nominating a Favorite here, even if I editorialize about one sentence.
Teaching moments
are not welcome, I have found, especially with our middle child who HATES my little "This is just a suggestion, but..." Carol just can't resist suggesting a way to economize (with words, with paper towels, you name it!).
Please don't hate me
That said... Great Five-Minute Freewrite, !
Friday Formating Purgattory Formatting Purgatory

I kid you not
for me to get this post composed.
I had to check the calendar. Yes. Today is Friday.
With out of town and offline,
posted the "Nominate Your Favorites" post -- and it appeared that no nominations had shown up. So I proceeded for an hour with my own nominations and hyperlinking the images to the posts, only to FAIL. Last week, it worked. Today, it's back to posting the URL below the image. And here I thought this was the day I'd find those passwords and log out, log into freewritehouse, post, log out, log in again. Thinking I was done, I thought I'd revisit
's post, and suddenly the nominations were visible. (Did I "refresh the page"--? No, it's more complicated than that, but never mind.) I also squandered many minutes trying to un-format a large block centered, bold font!-- never did find the original code making it happen.
Note to Marianne: I haven't loaded Safari yet to avoid the log-in, log-out thing!
