Steemit is an incredibly impressive social network. Spending the last 24 hours exploring the site has left me with a feeling that 4chan, Reddit, Tumblr, and Facebook all had a crypto-centric baby. I love it. Steemit has infused natural payments/rewards or "tips" for all of the effort that content creators put into managing their profiles.

What is the significance of Steemit?

The social media landscape has stalled when it comes to innovators coming out of nowhere to overtake established industry leaders (re: Myspace folding to Facebook, etc.). Instead, we have seen niche social networking sites arise and dominate specific arenas of content and specializations. Steemit appears to be successfully combining the benefits from both the niche sites and the mainstream platforms.
