Hi All,
After receiving a lot of comments about the photo I shared from Cappadoccia in my #introduceyourself post, I decided to make a seperate post about that magical place. A historical region in Central Anatolia, Turkey, Cappadoccia derives its name from an old Persian word, which means 'the land of the beautiful horses', and isn't that poetic...
Shaped by erosion, the place is home to unique rock formations. However humans contributed to it by carving incredible chambers and tunnels into the soft rock over the centuries. Beginning in the fourth century, an underground cultural landscape was created here.
Ancient volcanic eruptions blanketed this region with thick ash, which solidified into a soft rock. Wind and water went to work on this plateau, leaving only its harder elements behind to form a fairy tale landscape of cones, pillars, pinnacles, mushrooms, and chimneys, which stretch into the sky.
Hot air balloons are the best way to see around and hoover above this fairy tale like place. They take off quite early, before sunset, and finish their trip after the first rays of sunshine begin to warm the air.
Here is one, as it concludes the trip and land.
Let me know what you think on the comments below, happy to answer and further questions :)
