Just when you thought it was safe to go back outside the world decided to cook up another trend so we continue to be shitty to one another. In modern times plenty of our interactions are happening via smart devices that allow us to be divisive and do some really dumb shit in the process.
I honestly do not blame technology since it's only a tool and like money I feel it amplifies traits that were already there, to begin with, and shows your true colours as a person. I'm still a firm believer in people are only as good as the world allows them to be and if you are truly a decent person you would stick to your values regardless of the medium of communication.
Ghost in a shell
As I mentioned technology only exacerbates traits that were already to begin with and now that people have the luxury of choice due to their mobile device. Their options can quickly turn into the Baskin and Robbins of booty with plenty of flavours to choose from making it easy to hop between people in an instant for the next attention fix.
Naturally, suiters are ranked and those who fall down the pecking order are relegated to being ghosted while those who survive the hunger games of the heart continue to fight it out for the scraps of affection.
Having been ghosted myself I thought this was pretty harsh that someone would just cut ties in an instant without an explanation and never to be heard from again, yet your texts were read and their social posting continues.
I couldn't honestly care less about your reasons why, it's still a shitty thing to do to someone and there's a level of civility and courtesy you owe someone you were involved with, to provide them with closure.
While I still think ghosting is a deplorable act, I feel like its the lesser of two evils and I would choose it any day of the week and get off easy compared to the sadistic game that awaits those who remain in the game.

Fighting over crumbs
If you're lucky enough or rather unlucky enough to make it past the initial draft you are one of the more useful beta orbiters and you're about to get breadcrumbbed
Breadcrumbbing is described as the following
"When a guy or girl gives someone just enough attention to keep their hope of a relationship alive"

Breadcrumbbing is just straight up savage and I don't think there is any way someone can make . a case for it. At least concubines in previous eras while having no choice knew they were being used while breadcrumbing is a strategic psychological game of cat and mouse that many millennial minds aren't ready to grasp.
