So the world cup has kicked off and many steemians are getting in on the action with prediction score games, reviews of the games, opinions of who they think will win it and who they are supporting for the tournament and it's really livened up my feed which has been pretty slow as of late.
I've been going through tons of World cup content on the site and I didn't see much love for stand out players for each game and I thought it would be a cool series of posts to run with for the next month.

France vs Croatia
While France claimed the world cup via non-conventional circumstances in an own goal and a disputable penalty Croatia did not give up and soldiered on with heart and to me the footballer who really stood out and gave it his all was Ivan Perisic. He was gutsy, skilful and driven - and for a while the busiest man on the pitch. Took his equaliser brilliantly, but was harshly adjudged guilty of handball for France's penalty with the help of VAr. He was an absolute handful for the French and never gave up until the final whistle.

Honourable Mention
Kylian Mbappe was a peripheral figure before half-time, the teenager came alive in the second half when his electric pace allowed France to pick Croatia off on the break. Made his side's third goal and scored the fourth, to show again why the world is so excited about him.

So there you have it, the standout player from this years World Cup final. The Croatian and Inter Milan Winger has had a great tournament and should have no shortage of offers come the new season! It was an entertaining final and I guess the best team won it in the end.
