Sup SteemSquad
So the world cup has kicked off and many steemians are getting in on the action with prediction score games, reviews of the games, opinions of who they think will win it and who they are supporting for the tournament and it's really livened up my feed which has been pretty slow as of late.
I've been going through tons of World cup content on the site and I didn't see much love for stand out players for each game and I thought it would be a cool series of posts to run with for the next month.

Serbia vs Brazil
Brazil looks to be kicking into gear in the final game and produced a performance closer to what we expect from the South Americans. Jesus, Neymar and Coutinho were a constant menace as Brazil broke with dizzying speed. However one man has become their tailisman in this tournament and that is Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho
He provided a superb pass for Paulinho's goal - clever, creative and always busy, the Barcelona forward is a joy to watch. Coutinho's hot streak continues for his country as he has been involved in six goals in seven matches for Brazil in 2018 (four goals, two assists).
Switzerland vs Costa Rica
Having been on the bench for most of this world cup Joel Campbell finally got his chance and did not disappoint. The Arsenal forward - who spent last season on loan at Real Betis - worked tirelessly for his side, annoying the Switzerland defence throughout the game. He provided the assist for the first goal from a corner and then later winning a penalty that led to Costa Rica achieving a well-earned point

South Korea vs Germany
Son Heung-min was instrumental in most of South Korea's best moments. He had five shots on goal, scored once, had an 88.9% passing accuracy, made three crosses and one clearance. He also made a lung-busting run to get to the end of hopeful smash upfield and calmly putting Germany's world cup hopes to bed.
Mexico vs Sweden
Based on the back of the last 2 performances I thought Mexico would cruise to victory in this one but Sweden came out with a point to prove after the late loss to Germany and did just that, putting Mexico to the sword. Swedens performances at this world cup have been based on a solid defence and Andreas Granqvist Sweden's captain was once again a solid brick wall in defence and also keeping his nerve once again to score decisive penalty making that 2 in 2 for the big centre back.
Have your say
So there you have it, the stand out players from the last 4 games. As You can see some players are really starting to kick into gear at this world cup and find their groove with Son, Coutinho and Granqvist being mentioned previously for their stand out performances. It was also nice to see Campbell show off his talents in the final game and richly deserved praise for his performance, perhaps Costa Rica could have done with putting him in earlier than the final game.
Who do you think was your stand out player in matchday 1 so far? Would love to hear your feedback as matches start coming thick and fast. So drop me a comment or a link to your review of world cup stand out players
