Greetings to all! December 2cd rapidly approaches and that will mark my six month anniversary on this platform. ♡♡
So, steemit, is something I am thankful for this year in particular, especially as I was not on here this time last year. I was aware it existed but silly me, kept waiting. That's okay.
So why would I be thankful for a "mere" social media platform?
Answer: Well, that's just it, it's not "mere!" I have made numerous connections on here that have inspired me, delighted me, & even kept me going at times. Steemit isn't like lamebook at all. You got a lot of open minded people on here. It makes up for years of me trying to remotely find the same thing on other platforms. Being "me" on other platforms resulted in a wide range of responses from no response to you're crazy! Haha. Not so crazy now am I? :p
All in all, I'm thankful for all the connections I have made here. Too many to tag!
These connections lead me to being inspired to run what is primarily a curation account for (ians)
Ultimate goal there is to use some funds from the account as able to collaborate and connect with Steemians of the East Coast US "irl", while promoting them through thoughtful curation. That right, I want to meet you people. =)
You can be from other "coasts" too. No exclusions, we primarily cater to east coast US because I feel we are lagging here in this region. I know we exist but we gotta connect! If you want a link to our discord let me know in the comments so I can give you one that doesn't expire.
This year I am thankful for improved mental well being and clarity. I am thankful for what many don't have & many who do take for granted (in no particular order)....
- food
- shelter
- safe drinking & bathing water
- my health
- capability to make money
- family
- my catz....
Yes, I have four cats. Boo is the step-cat and is the last cat pictured. =_=
So, you may be thinking that my post header doesn't match the direction my post has seemed to go. Good assessment! Let me get back on track here.
So, what is my viewpoint on thankfulness?
I think in some ways, it is freaking sad we are only being thankful or observing "gratitude" on ONE day. That's why I am not huge on commercialized holidays. They create an artificial environment where people start to analyze their lives and what they are grateful for. Guess what?? We should be mindful enough to be voicing our thankfulness everyday.
Same goes for the new years resolution stuff. You need to be challenging yourself throughout the year, not just at the beginning. Holidays have become so commercialized these days that people focus on that side of it. The "real" meaning of various holidays is then therefore an afterthought. SAD.
As always, I encourage my readers to please chime in with your thoughts! Happy Holidays to all! Remember to be thankful everyday, not just once a year.
