What tokyo so long?
A short walk west of the Nippori station (日暮里駅) in Tokyo, Japan took me to the old streets of Yanaka (谷中), also known as Cat Town.
Cat Town
Yanaka offers a glimpse in Tokyo's past and a sightseeing opportunity that is very different from the modern, metropolitan city feel of other parts of the city.
From cat-themed cafes and bookstores to cat-printed food and clothes, various stalls and kind of shops can be found in the cat town.
The prices are relatively cheaper compared in other cities so there's no need to worry. You can even buy some snacks and finger food below ¥50! Japa-nice, isn't it?
Of course, after a tiring yet enjoyable walking tour, I bought a cat-shaped taiyaki (たい焼き) with red bean filling as a reward.
Taiyaki is a Japanese cake, usually fish shaped. The most common filling is red bean paste that is made from sweetened azuki beans. Other common fillings may be custard, chocolate, cheese, or sweet potato.
