Black plum or Jaamun (जामुन) is a native fruit of Indian subcontinent and it comes at the end of summer and start of the monsoon season. It also has various medicinal properties.
It has unique sweet, mildly sour and astringent flavour and tends to colour the tongue purple.
Usually, this fruit is eaten as such and tastes great with black salt. One recipe of this fruit called Jamun Shots is somewhat popular so I decided to give it a try.
Ingredients-
- Black Plums deseeded 2 cups
- Chilled water 1 cup
- Lemon juice 1 tbsp
- Black salt 1/2 tsp
- Sugar 2-3 tsp
Procedure-
It is very simple to prepare. Just add all ingredients and blend to make a smooth liquid. No need to strain if it is blended well.
Since it tastes nice with black salt so rim the glasses with salt before serving.
Serve in small quantities and enjoy the goodness of this unique seasonal fruit.
