Recently a news titled "21 हज़ार लीटर दूध से चारभुजा मंदिर का अभिषेक " ( Temple showered with 21000- liter animal milk) shocked me! Although it is a very common practice in India to sprinkle milk on any god's idol but showering a huge quantity of animal milk on any temple forced me to think, where are we heading?
It is a universal truth that any animal milk is a baby food for their babies and has no other purpose other than nourishing babies. Nature only produce milk for newborn babies as their 1st food. But if, this much quantity of milk is wasting in this way then certainly a question arises in mind that from where this milk is coming? Definitely somewhere someone is suffering and starving for this precious baby food and no need to say calves are deprived and we are snatching their "right to feed" their mother's milk.
There is a very common argument to defend this is that cows/buffalo gives an extra quantity of milk and all calves are fed sufficient milk before milking any animal. This is a very weak argument and completely untrue. Dairy has become a huge industry and any indutry runs to earn the profit, not for any welfare purpose. The same thing applies to the dairy industry also and animals are suffering a lot in the dairy industry to fulfill the ever-increasing demand for animal milk for human consumption.
This type of ritual of showering animal milk on idol and now the whole temple or offering milk in temples are just to please the God but, I am doubtful either God will be happy to see such cruel animal product offered by their devotee.
Animal Milk which is a precious life-saving food for their babies and useless and unnecessary for us human being but, we intelligent creature doing just opposite. Wasting a babies nourishment for our blind faith and consuming in a large quantity due to our incomplete knowledge about our food to be taken. Morality has just kept aside and I will say Our apathy is putting their lives in jeopardy
