Sweet balls or called Laddu/Modak(लड्डू/मोदक) is a very famous and popular dessert in India. There are a lot of varieties of sweet balls made in different parts of India. Refined sugar and animal fat(Ghee) is commonly used in traditional sweet balls recipes.
Here I made a vegan and healthy version of sweet balls without using any oil and refined sugar.
Ingredients-
- Whole wheat flour 1 cup
- Jaggery grated 1cup
- Coconut flesh of 1 medium coconut.
- Dry fruits nuts of your choice
- Cardamom powder 1 tsp
Procedure-
- In a pan take wheat flour and bake at low flame with continuous stirring for 10-15 minutes or until it turns light brown in colour. Overheating can burn the flour.
- Cool down a little and add grated jaggery, mix well and make a fine powder in a blender.
- Blend coconut pieces in a blender to make it almost like a paste.
- Mix both wheat-jaggery mixture and coconut paste. Mix properly for few minutes. Moisture present in coconut will release which will help to make balls. No need to add any water.
- Make small balls out of this mixture.
It is a delicious and healthy vegan snack
