It's Friday, and today was Book Day at work.
Way back, -that felt like ages ago - we didn't really observe 'Book Day'. We do book reviews of course, but there was no dressing up or anything to mark the occasion. That is why I always find it remarkable now that I work with a school that does. Seeing everyone dressed up as different characters from a book is fantastic. Some might purchase one in a shop, but I am constantly amazed by DIYs like the one I am wearing right now. But, -hold on- just a quick thought. Hmmmm. Since I had help with sewing the apron, would that still make it a DIY? π€ Maybe half DIY then? dunno. Eeeeeeek. Well, I had to have help, as sewing next to ironing are household chores I don't fancy at all. π
As our year group reads Tangled of Knots this term, I opted to be Cadence.
(Cady for short). Aside from liking her name, Cady has a pixie haircut (like mine) and a talent for baking. Most importantly, I've had this DIY apron and baker's hat kept for years now and it has come in handy.
My first impression of the book was that it was uninteresting, but as we read it, I found it intriguing. I had to re-read some parts to truly comprehend what was going on and some of the terms used there has distinct connotation, like the word 'fair'. It referred to someone who lacked talent in the book. I really liked how the cake recipes took almost an entire page. We all whined when we read it right before break time just because it made us ravenous. LOLS.
We just have a few chapters left and only three or four days until the end of term two. I'm hopeful we'll be able to finish the book by then, as a new book awaits us in Term 3. And, yes, I avoided the advanced reading because I chose to be in the same phase as the kids. I wanted to be curious and thrilled to see how it ends just like they do.
Yup, I did mention three or four days left for us next week as the Moon sighting will be observed on Wednesday night. If the moon appears, Ramadan will begin on a Thursday, coinciding with the start of our ten-day term break. Wohooooo. If it does not appear, we will have to work on Thursday, and Friday will be the first day of Ramadan and our term break.
Come on moon please be visible on Wednesday, please! π
Gotta go.
Thank YOU for being here.
PS. Were you able to spot any book characters in my photos?
If given a chance to dress up a book character, who would you be and why?
Laters!
