Myself helping to prepare our local food known as fufu
On Friday November 18th, 2022, I went to assist a family who lost their aged mother and grandmother to the cool hands of the dead. Though am not too close to the family because am still new to the area. But we all serve God together. So, when announcement was made that the family needs women's to come and assist them with cooking for their mothers burial, I volunteered myself to help. On getting to the venue, others are already there preparing soup ingredients while I joined in preparing fufu.
You can see other women at the extreme cooking and preparing other things. Around 10:5 pm, I left to my house to change up and have some rest because, i don't feel comfortable sleeping outside. Though i was tired when i got home. But was strong again the next day.
Why did i named it burial ceremony?
As you can see on the burial program, the woman is 94 years old. And here in Nigeria, once someone died above the age of 60, it is called celebration of life lolz. I don't really know why it is so bust i guess is because the person died at the old age. But, when you see a burial poster of age below 60, it is always painful exit. And in our country today, you hardly see poeple die at that age. And ones someone died at the age, the children used to call for a big celebration. You won't see any one crying on the burial day. Instead, eating and drinking will be going on.
The woman in question has 24 grandchildren, and from a wealthy family. Her burial was just like a marriage ceremony. Hahahaha, that's why i attended too.
Where her burial talk and installment took place.
Due to the larger number of her family, friends and well wishers, her burial talk was conducted on an open field. Though i was a bit late to the venue. As the soon as i arrived, the corp's has been taking with abundance to her compound for installment. So, I had to capture the field and took some selfie there.
From the field, we moved to the woman's family compound were the instalment was taking place. On getting there, they are almost done. So, I captured those who are covering the ground and we moved to a her son's house for entertainment.
On the son's compound, poeple where still many. Because Army and bouncer's who were called to come for the same venue. So, i and those who walked with me were given a sit under palm trees outside the compound. The grasses was well cleared and that place was very cold. We were served with different kinds of food and drinks. I chosed to go with rice and a chilled bottle of malt.
The end.
The only surviving daughter of the late woman who is on her late 60's later came out to talk us for honoring their invitation and to know if we are satisfied. We were satisfied and left with joy. I came back home to enjoy the rest of the day with m family members. My little contribution helps the burial to be a successful one. That's my joy at the end of the day.
