Hi all you lucky, LUCKY people around the world able to escape to the sea!
I hope that you are all well and able to continue capturing the incredible moments and memories that the #sea gives you.
I'm in the middle of #Melbourne in #lockdown no.6 (Still) and can't actually go anywhere at the moment, atleast not out of my 5km radius anyway...
And so my #escape to the sea will have to wait, but atleast I've got these memories of the extraordinary Coral Sea in Far North Queensland https://parksaustralia.gov.au/marine/parks/coral-sea/ to escape to though my photos.
The #CoralSea is the gateway to the #GreatBarrierReef and I have had the privilege of living up there in the #DaintreeRainforest https://daintreerainforest.net.au/ where the Rainforest really does meet the sea
Surrounded by pristine, palm fringed beaches like this one here called #ThorntonBeach https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/daintree-cape-tribulation/attractions/thornton-beach with the majestic #ThorntonPeak https://wanderstories.space/thornton-peak/ overlooking this majestic landscape, https://daintreerainforest.net.au/thornton-peak-landslide/ according to the stories and legends from the local Kuku Yalanji people, the Daintree Rainforest is sacred women's land (which it most definitely is and as as woman, I can attest to that without one single iota of doubt in my mind....)
And the area on Thornton Beach, known around the world as the Bouncing Stones, according to the #KukuYalanji people, is the not only sacred women's land, but it is also said that these 'Bouncing Stones' have magical fertility properties and so have been visited thousands of times by women all over the world wanting to fall pregnant.
Unfortunately many of these women have also taken the #BouncingStones home with them and after suffering experiences of severe bad luck, have sent them back to Thornton Beach.
The Kuku Yalanji also remember this area and it's lush valley and dense jungle from their ancestors stories, that the valley was originally inhabited by a tribe that believed that the valley was the birth of their world. The meandering creek representing the serpent in the creation stories, with the head represented by the island (Struck Rock) just off the coast of Thornton’s Beach. Numerous artefacts have been located on the property such as cutting stones, grinding stones and various other tools https://www.tropicaltours.com.au/history-of-noah-creek-daintree-rainforest/
Now the #beach may look devoid of life, but I can guarantee that there are all kinds of #land and #sea #animals that frequent that beach at every second of every day and night.
As you can see the little sand balls here are made by the thousands of #SandBubblerCrabs that roll them up as they are eating the organic matter that is attached to each grain of sand, then discarding them afterwards, eventually surrounding themselves by trillions of tiny balls.
And then don't forget, all the Salt Water #Crocodiles lurking about in the warm water AND up on the sand in the sun too, just waiting there to eat YOU!
