From my personal experience
cannabis is very helpful as a part of a healthy, active lifestyle. Whether I’m putting in an hour on the treadmill, or going for a long walk or bike ride in nature, it’s better when I’m high. Running on the treadmill I can zone out and listen to my playlist for a lot longer without being bored. Walks in nature are so much more vivid, I notice so many more details. I feel great appreciation and connection. Being stoned just makes many activities more enjoyable and therefore more attractive. Getting motivated to be active is one of the hardest obstacles to overcome. It’s a new field of research, but many experts in health and fitness are already adding cannabis to their various recommended regimens. Below are just a few of the articles and studies on this topic. If you've always thought stoners were lazy couch potatoes, check out this data and think again. As prohibition eases, prepare to be amazed by all of the ways people are using cannabis to improve life quality and health.
Though the conversation around marijuana use is constantly shifting, the primary focus has been on the drug’s medicinal properties, many of which have been used during treatment for everything from cancer to Alzheimer’s. But what has remained largely undiscussed is the plant’s potential to aid in athletic performance. What that comes down to is: What am I missing in my workout? If it's a lack of motivation once you get in the gym, a sativa may provide that extra boost. If it's winding down at the end of the night, then an indica may help you get that needed sleep to really put you in a good place, both for muscle recovery and for tomorrow's session.
With all the stress
most people have to deal with on a daily basis, it’s no wonder they have such a hard time feeling motivated to exercise. So again we come back to how, in another way, the stress relief gained from cannabis, is promoting a healthy life. Many people reported that pot motivated them to work out and helped them enjoy exercise more. People who said they used cannabis either shortly before or after exercise actually got more physical activity than users who said they didn’t mix weed and workouts — more than 2.5 hours per week, compared to less than two hours per week. “One of the barriers to physical activity is that people say, ‘I don’t like it. It’s boring. It feels bad. I don’t want to do it,'” Bryan says. “If, for some people, cannabis is helping them to enjoy the activity more,” that relationship is worth further study.

Physical activity is among the most important health behaviors, but many Americans do not meet minimum exercise recommendations for healthy living. Common issues surrounding low exercise rates include inadequate enjoyment of and motivation to exercise, and poor recovery from exercise. It is unclear whether cannabis use shortly before and/or after exercise impacts these issues, and whether this co-use affects exercise performance. The present online survey study examines attitudes and behaviors regarding cannabis use with exercise among adult cannabis users living in states with full legal access (N = 605). Results indicated that the majority (81.7%) of participants endorsed using cannabis concurrently with exercise, and those who did tended to be younger and more likely to be males (p < 0.0005 for both). Even after controlling for these differences, co-users reported engaging in more minutes of aerobic and anaerobic exercise per week (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05, respectively). In addition, the majority of participants who endorsed using cannabis shortly before/after exercise reported that doing so enhances their enjoyment of and recovery from exercise, and approximately half reported that it increases their motivation to exercise.

It’s really nice to read, and share, information about the many health benefits of cannabis. There are so many. Along with stress, lack of physical activity is a major contributing factor for poor health. Anything that motivates someone to exercise more is very beneficial.
