To understand the word of God, we must devout ourselves to study it. We must read the Bible everyday. We must create time consciously and read the Bible. There is no other way of getting the information about something without first studying about it. We go to school to study and get educational knowledge. The same way we must provide time to study the Bible.
When we read the Bible, let us meditate on what we have read. Let us try our best to understand what we have learnt. Understanding come when someone reflects again on what he or she has read or learnt. Without meditating on the word of God, we cannot receive the blessings that are in the Word of God. Meditation is another word for reflecting. Do not be too busy not to get time and meditate on the word of God.
We should also open our hearts to the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. What is the truth that you are receiving and who is teaching you? It is the Lord Jesus Christ alone that is our teacher. There is no way that you are going to understand the word of God without allowing the Teacher to teach you. Or don't you remember the the Father declared publicly on the mount of transfiguration that we should listen to Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is the one who wrote the Bible. He is the one who inspired holy men of old to write the Bible. Let us listen to the Holy Spirit because it is the writer who knows how to explain what he or she had written.
