It was 9 days ago, as I was taking a stroll around the posts of some of my followers on steemit and upvoting them for their hard and brilliant work, when I saw this comment that caught my fancy. Someone promising to land anyone huge steem for almost doing nothing.
You check posts of some folks , and you wonder how they got to earn so much. Perhaps I wanted that big break in my experience with steemit. But of cause you can't take out the reality of the fact that they have invested so much time and energy to the community. Obviously, they are reaping the labour they've put into it.
The scammer publish this comments on a friend's post.
As a newbie hopeful for the big break, I gullibly tapped on it, and blindly filled in my details.
When I clicked on the link in the comment, I was redirected to the following site:
I still cannot understand how I managed not to notice this switch. Perhaps I was thinking with my belly.
The page maliciously mentioned SteemConnect, despite the fact it has clearly nothing to do with it.
I entered my credentials and clicked on the “Connect Now” button, and this was what I got:
I tried severally to get back into my account, but boom, I was locked outside. I could see my account if I follow my link, but virtually had no access to its funds. It's like watching your house from the window when the door is locked, looking for where you dropped the key. It was really a terrible feeling.
I spoke to some friends and their fear was that my account had been hacked. As much as I didn't want to believe that, it was the truth.
Well, I didn't have much to loose financially, but I missed my friends. I imagined this big play ground where all the kids around the world comes to play, and I'm just stuck in the spirit realm not been able to communicate to anyone. I see everything, but cannot participate. The funny thing is that others can see your garden, but can't find you tending it.
I was advised to open a new account, but I wanted my old account back. Spoke to a friend who told me he can help me out, and to my surprise, I received that mail, my account has been reactivated.
I really feel a need to warn everyone out there, of these guys. They are frauds and they are evil.
