Money is one of the essential things every human needs. It is a powerful one. The sweet thing about money is it creates opportunities, security and confidence. With money you will be able to live a comfortable life, as they say, money stops nonsense. With money you can command respect, pay bills, and put food on the table. When someone says that money doesn't bring happiness, I doubt them, and I see it as something that is unrealistic. For instance, someone that finds it hard to provide for the family and goes out and comes back with a lot of money – is that not enough to bring happiness to the man? While money can’t guarantee happiness, the absence of it can lead to frustration, poverty and unhappiness.
Because of how important money is to man, that is why we move out from home every day hustling for money. The majority of us spend most of our lives chasing money; for you to command respect and be tagged a successful man is often seen or measured by your wealth and social status. In today’s world the pressure to make money is very high. After scrolling through social media and seeing pictures and videos of people living a luxurious lifestyle, before you realise it, you are already comparing our life with theirs; before you know it, you are trapped with the desire of wanting more.
In most cases we go the extra mile searching for money, and we neglect our health, family and friends. We work endlessly without giving ourselves rest for our quest for money. You slowly forget that our health is important. We can only push and hustle for financial stability with good health. We totally forget that health is wealth. One thing about money is we meet it here on earth, and nobody will go with it. I always tell people that money is a tool and the purpose for life itself.
Money is important, no doubt; it should serve us and not control us. There is nothing wrong if we work so hard to hustle to make money so that we will have financial comfort and strive for success. Where the problem lies is the moment we see money as the only thing that gives us happiness. One thing that really keeps me going is gratitude. I stop focusing on things I don't have and change my perspective. I may not have a million, but I find joy from people within me, peace of mind and things I have been able to achieve.
The majority of us are influenced by society, allowing society to define success for them and not them defining it as humans. We differ; some see success as building an empire, while some see it as having enough to take care of their family. We should always follow our own standard and not society's. We should try to be contented with what we have, understanding that life is not a competition.
One thing about money is you can never predict it. Money can come and go. I can be rich today, and tomorrow the money will vanish. It is very bad if our happiness depends on money; rather, we should build our value on gratitude and purpose. We should create a foundation that money cannot destroy. Money is very important, but it should never control us.
