Continuando nuestro camino atravesando el Perú en sentido Norte-Sur, bajamos de la ciudad de Trujillo hacia Chimbote, ciudad que desconocíamos totalmente. Su nombre no nos decía demasiado y se suponía -como de costumbre- que estaríamos unos pocos días.
Llegamos a Chimbote la noche de un Miércoles, eran alrededor de las 9 de la noche y la búsqueda de hotel se nos hizo súper complicada, alegremente Natalia consiguió algo luego de varias horas de búsqueda, de mucho preguntar y sobre todo de mucha tensión e incertidumbre pues ya se hacía muy tarde y estábamos con nuestros gatos en la plaza.
Llegamos al hotel que consiguió Natalia y descansamos... Al siguiente día por la mañana fuimos por un desayuno y fue sorpresivo para nosotros que ¡Venden pan relleno de pescado! Súper sabroso y energizante, con su bebida de Maca y Avena, fueron un desayuno super completo para iniciar el día con toda la energía necesaria.
Continuing our way through Peru in a north-south direction, we went down from the city of Trujillo to Chimbote, a city we did not know at all. Its name did not tell us much and we were supposed as usual- to stay only a few days.
We arrived in Chimbote on a Wednesday night, it was around 9 pm and the search for a hotel was very complicated, Natalia happily found something after several hours of searching, a lot of asking and above all a lot of tension and uncertainty because it was getting very late and we were with our cats in the square.
We arrived at the hotel that Natalia got and rested.... The next day in the morning we went for breakfast and it was a surprise for us that They sell bread stuffed with fish! Super tasty and energizing, with their Maca and Oatmeal drink, it was a super complete breakfast to start the day with all the necessary energy.
Ya bien alimentados con esas deliciosas recetas típicas salimos a dar un primer paseo por la ciudad y tropezamos con la Plaza Almirante Miguel Grau, muy muy bonita con ese gran edificio rojo a orillas del malecón, edificio que resulta ser un hotel, el Hotel Gran Chimu.
A las orillas tenemos esas playas, que aunque puedan resultar apetecibles para los que nos gusta nadar, son playas para pesca y desprenden un cierto olor aceitoso que deja bien claro que NO es una buena idea.
La plaza en general es muy bonita, la gente se sienta a tomar la sombra y darle comidita a las aves. Todo muy tranquilo y agradable.
Already well fed with those delicious typical recipes we went for a first walk around the city and stumbled upon the Plaza Almirante Miguel Grau, very very nice with that big red building on the edge of the boardwalk, a building that happens to be a hotel, the Hotel Gran Chimu.
On the shores we have those beaches, that although they may be appetizing for those of us who like to swim, they are fishing beaches and give off a certain oily smell that makes it clear that it is NOT a good idea.
The square in general is very nice, people sit in the shade and feed the birds. All very quiet and pleasant.

Chimbote se siente tranquilo y organizado, el tráfico tiene su hora pico como en todos lados pero en general es un lugar donde se puede caminar con cierta tranquilidad. Hay boulevares, plazas y avenidas espaciosas en donde hay comercio de todo tipo, hay un cierto lugar donde suelen estar los artesanos. Ahí conocimos a una pareja de artesanos con los que compartimos buenos momentos durante el rato que estuvimos allí. Un saludo para ellos!
Hay sus edificios muy bonitos, paraderos de autobuses con un estilo propio, es que las calles de Chimbote son muy distintivas, muy propias...
Chimbote feels calm and organized, the traffic has its rush hour as everywhere but in general it is a place where you can walk with a certain tranquility. There are boulevards, squares and spacious avenues where there is commerce of all kinds, there is a certain place where artisans usually are. There we met a couple of artisans with whom we shared good moments during the time we were there. **Greetings to them!
There are very nice buildings, bus stops with a style of their own, the streets of Chimbote are very distinctive, very own...

La pasamos muy bonito en Chimbote, hicimos nuevos amigos al mismo tiempo que conocíamos bonitos lugares. La gente por allá es muy bonita, de alguna manera sentí que se asombraban mucho con nuestros actos. Éso siempre es bonito para un artista, sentir que su arte es apreciado.
Nos gustaron mucho estos murales, muy bonitos y muy grandes, como ya nos tiene acostumbrados el Peru, realzando sus valores ancestrales y alzando la voz para recordarnos que nuestra madre naturaleza es un ser vivo. Vivo y amoroso pero que algunas veces sufre por nuestras acciones inconscientes y despreocupadas

We had a great time in Chimbote, we made new friends and at the same time we got to know beautiful places. The people there are very nice, somehow I felt that they were very amazed with our acts. That is always nice for an artist, to feel that his art is appreciated.
We really liked these murals, very beautiful and very large, as we are used to in Peru, enhancing their ancestral values and raising their voices to remind us that our mother nature is a living being. Alive and loving but sometimes she suffers because of our unconscious and careless actions.

Los atardeceres en esta pequeña pero encantadora ciudad son muy especiales, durante las primeras semanas de Diciembre que fue cuando nosotros estuvimos y seguro que durante todo el año. El cielo se tiñe de unos tonos de rojos, azules y violetas muy especiales. Les recomiendo ver estas fotos que puse en Liketu, se aprecia un poco de lo que les digo.
La plaza central tiene ese monumento muy bonito, sólo fuimos una vez en la noche así que no tengo demasiadas fotos.
En materia gastronómica, pronto les voy a hablar de un INCREÍBLE restaurant vegetariano que encontramos! Manténganse atentos a nuestros futuros posts!

The sunsets in this small but charming city are very special, during the first weeks of December when we were there and certainly throughout the year. The sky is tinged with very special shades of reds, blues and violets. I recommend you to see these photos that I put in Liketu, you can appreciate a little of what I am telling you.
The central square has that very nice monument, we only went once at night so I don't have too many pictures.
On gastronomic matters, I will soon tell you about an AMAZING vegetarian restaurant we found! Stay tuned for our future posts!
