I was watching Killing of a Sacred Deer again. Everything in the movie is about normal human relations, except it's not. All the relations are varying degrees of abnormal. But the thing that struck me is nearly nothing in the movie is really related to the world we know, in the sense there are no references to people, places, or things (there is a reference to the movie "Groundhog Day", although I almost wish there wasn't even that anchoring). It's like a world out of time, a world that can be built around anything that it wants to be. Too many times we feel quite accurately that the world we live in is contrived, convoluted and trapped. Things are at once much more complicated and more simpler than they should actually be. The idiotic explanations are too simple while the solutions are too complicated.
Life is as difficult, as generic, as original, and authentic as we choose to make it. As you grow older you see the same patterns, the same shit, turn over and over again ... or as many say, the pendulum swing from one side to the other, as if the human enigma is actively chasing and transferring between itself. This is the condition... or ignorance, of ignoring history. These things happen because of our ignorance, our genetic programming to be redundant, and the fact that the average human can only understand through the crude brutality of experience. As the song goes ... over and over again my friend.
Let's try to get out of the contrived, convoluted trap that is set out for us by the fear mongers, the war profiteers, the corporate thieves, the racists, the nationalists, the idiot makers before us.
