I consider meeting my husband to be one of my answered prayers.
I was in grade school when my sister and I started attending Sunday school at the nearby community church. It was in High school when the first time I joined a youth camp and the first to hear a love, courtship, and marriage seminar. It was also that time when I got a chance to read the book, Boy meets Girl by Joshua Harris and When God Writes Your Love Story by Eric & Leslie Ludy, that describe their experiences on courting the women they eventually married. And from then on, I know deep in my heart the kind of relationship that the Lord wants me to experience.
I never had a boyfriend when I was still studying – because I made it a rule to finish my studies first before entering to a romantic relationship. The challenging time came, after finishing college I landed to my first job. At this point, I stopped going to church and began living an ungodly lifestyle and entered to ungodly relationship. The relationship didn’t last, it was a dark phase in my life, but I thank God that He did not let me stay there. Year 2015, when I decided to fix myself and realign my life to His will for me again. I started attending church and signed myself to a ministry. I am reminded by the verse Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Jesus instills in my heart when I was still young that He will give me a godly man for my husband.
It was the same year when I met Martin, to one of Foursquare Senior Youth District events. We didn’t become friends after the retreat, but I know the Lord let me saw him. On different events such as conventions and other senior youth gatherings, we continuously saw each other without even saying hi. In 2019, we were on the same event again, I managed to say hi to him and had a short chat before leaving the venue. We became friends on Facebook and started chatting each other.
Fast-forward today, we are now one month happily married. I am so grateful that the Lord didn’t leave me on my trying times. He sent me people to get me back on my feet to be able to run and embrace Him again. I thank Jesus because He is true to His word that He who began good work in me will bring it to completion.
