Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I decided to get off my ass a bit, literally!
Adjusting Environments
One of the easiest ways we can make adjustments to ourselves and our situations is try to think differently about it. I've been working from home for nearly a year now and one of the things I missed the most was being able to get up and go wherever I needed to go. I would often walk a few miles a day just by working. Change that situation and now I was getting minimal exercise! It was a tough adjustment indeed. One of the things I really have been considering lately is figuring out how to be on my feet more instead of sitting in a chair. We know now that sitting is bad for our health long-term so I knew I had to figure something out but didn't want to spend a bunch of money to do it.
In comes something in front of my face nearly every morning! The dresser (or bureau, depending where you live or generation you're from lol) that I store all of my clothes in! This thing is the perfect height for me. I don't slouch down and even better, I get to have a nice view throughout my work day! I get sunlight, get to see what's happening in the world. Definitely a nice place to stand and drink my coffee in the morning!
I'm glad I eventually figured it out but sometimes we don't see the simplest things that we can change even if they're right in front of us. It may not be a "DIY" type thing but we can turn pieces of our environment into easy things to fix situations we are in. For me, it fixed my need to not sit all day while I'm working. It may end up that I might not spend every day in this spot, at least in the beginning since my legs are pretty out of shape when it comes to standing a lot, but I think in the long run I would spend most of my work day's here.
Have you figured out a way to adjust your environment without needing to make drastic or expensive changes? Let me know!
