Here we are again with chess, and man I have been all this week excited to participate again in the weekly tournaments organized by the community along with as part of its series of tournaments known as Hivechess, I must say first that these tournaments have a quality and players of such caliber that for me it is impossible to get even a little close to the first places, this occasion was played in Arena format all against all and I played quite well against some players, regular against some others and I was absolutely destroyed in other games, however I have enjoyed my weekly dose of chess after being from Monday to Thursday reviewing every night what my openings were as well as solving some tactical problems on the board.
What can I say, this tournament has been positive now that I see it from a distance, and this post serves as a report of some of my most outstanding games with their respective commentary, I have also been reviewing several of these games with the Chess.com engine and to my surprise I have not made any serious mistakes in most of my games, just some inaccuracies that I will be commenting throughout the post, here we go!

Starting on fire vs. realdeadleaf
Unlike the previous Hivechess I played, this installment showed no mercy in throwing some of the best players in the tournament at me in the early rounds, I remember I had played two games against this opponent and had lost both in the previous tournament so I thought I'd give my opening a whirl, It was quite complicated knowing that I have the two knights of the Spanish opening constantly stalking my king but in the end I was able to make a decisive blow to force a checkmate in my first round, play black and win.
A pretty spectacular rook sacrifice on the seventh rank to deliver a definitive blow to the enemy king with my queen and bishop. We start off on the right foot.
Playing awkward positions vs. tony1294
We' re in the fifth round and I have 3 games won and one lost, those games are also exciting but this next game is the one that is perhaps my best game of this tournament, and I say that because in reality my opponent played an opening that I have no idea about nor do I know how to respond optimally and yet I was able to rise to an advantage and then turn that small advantage of spaces and pieces into a win, just look at this position after a series of exchanges that have left me with a pawn advantage.
It' s a pretty difficult position for the black pieces to defend but somehow I was able to get out of that pressure with a castle and playing to advance my pawns in the middle of the storm, still I'm surprised how accurate I was in such tense moments of the game.
I could have played this endgame much better but at this point we are both with time problems and we are just playing the simplest moves on the board, we both crown a pawn but I have the advantage of having a check that allows me to capture his queen and win the game, what a game!
Beating the champion vs. sawkito
Usually when I get this gentleman in the pairing I let out a long sigh and prepare to be completely destroyed, but in this tournament I was feeling pretty good about my game and was learning a bit to loosen up during games so I started playing and fighting like an old drunk in a bar losing pawns and slowly being dragged into my territory until.. he blunder!!! I couldn't believe it either but apparently I have been gifted a checkmate and I didn't hesitate to take it, even though the queen was also hanging in the position.
The game ends with Qxh4 and an unstoppable checkmate on the H column.
Back on earth vs. blackswam21
One of the things I liked the most about my performance in this tournament is how constant I was in each game, I can say for sure that in each of the 15 games I played there was always a balance between what I could do and what the opponent could do, there was enough tactics for either of us to win and I think that's what happens in this game, in which I was all the game defending myself quite decently from attacks but just at the end I did not calculate well some jumps of the knight and the capture of some vital pawns in my position, I surrendered a couple of moves later, the reason is that my forces are too far apart on the board and are easy targets for the attack of their pieces.
a satisfied ending vs. Enlolw
It' s the 12th round and I'm really tired, I'm coming from two consecutive defeats that have left me a little bit on the canvas about to KO, but I have a little more strength to face another of the top 3 of the tournament, I'm sure he was also tired because most of the game was quite bearable, as if both did not want to face each other too much and just leave it in a draw, in the end it was just like that after a few changes of pieces and a few struggles here and there, it is also true that there was very little time left for the end of the tournament and it is better to have a point to stay at 0 both of us.
There is not much to do in this kind of finals, it is simply a draw.
My summary
It has been an almost perfect tournament, maybe if I had gotten some podium would have been round but I am quite satisfied with the level I have shown in all the games, always posing a challenge even against the toughest opponents, having a couple of key wins against opponents of my same rating and of course knowing how to manage decently in most of the games, it has been a very good tournament for me!!! But I' m still willing to improve so if you have something of value to share in the comments I can't wait to read it, thanks for stopping by and thanks to the organizers of Hivechess for such a dynamic tournament. See you later!
