A work from around 2005, painted on A3 studio canvas, of the town of La Orotava. To quote Wikipedia:
La Orotava is a town and a municipality in the northern part of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands of Spain. The area of the municipality stretches from the north coast to the mountainous interior, and includes the summit of the Teide volcano. Read the Wikipedia article HERE.
The tree featured at the left of the picture is a drago, or dragon tree and is a local landmark.
This particular painting was based on watercolour sketches done on site. Things like litter bins, overhead cables and lamp posts get omitted for aesthetic reasons. The watercolour sketch I used for the painting is featured below.
