That Island In The Sky

Utah is the land of the canyons. Well, Canyonlands National Park is located in Utah at least.

It's split up into three separate parts, each inaccessible from the other. Island in the Sky is the section closest to Moab, Utah and where all these photos are from.

It's a mesa that towers over the rest of the park, hence the name.

From its lofty reaches you can look out on the Green and Colorado Rivers, along with a canyon or two.

It's a bit on the dry side, although it rained on me while I was there.

You need a 4x4 vehicle to get down in the canyons, and preferably a buddy with one too.

Some of the faint lines down in the canyons are the roads trails.

Much as I wanted to try, I was pretty sure my Ford Focus would die.

So I just kept to that Island in the Sky.
