After a good night's sleep, we woke up this morning and decided to take Laska for a walk. It was a very quiet Saturday morning with not a whole lot going on around this neighborhood just outside of Ajijic (ah-he-heek).
I wish I were this photogenic! Laska has no idea how good she has it.
These flowers are called strelitzia reginae but are more commonly referred to as bird of paradise or crane lily. The plant can grow to be a couple meters tall. It's a slow-growing plant and it won't bloom until it's between 3 and 5 years old.
In this neighborhood we'd frequently see purple flowers strewn all over the ground.
These trees are the culprits. We're not complaining though, they add a welcomed touch of color to the scenery. Not that there's a lack of color but who doesn't like more flowers? The gorgeous mountains neighboring Lake Chapala can be seen in the background.
Okay, maybe Laska isn't always photogenic. This is her face after we said "Is that a cat?!?"
They might be pretty, but watch out for those thorns!
This is just a little bit of our walk from this morning. In a few hours, we'll be heading to a taco festival. I've been to taco festivals in the US but I bet those won't compare to a taco festival in the land o' tacos!
Stay tuned for some deliciousness in the form of folded tortillas!
