Lupins, Dahlias, Rhododendrons, and other flowering plants that I adore. Dublins annual "Bloom" Festival is like an Irish version of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
I've visited three years in a row now. It's a fantastic opportunity to see and photograph copious plants and flowers. Set on a massive plot in the middle of Dublins Phoenix Park, visitors are treated to all kinda of stalls, displays, gardens and performances. It runs for five days each year and attracts a huge crowd.
As always, I came home with a massive haul of photos, and I wanted to share some quick picks with you here. Unfortunately this year I could only make it on the weekend so it was very crowded and that meant I couldn't spend my time composing each photo. Last year I was able to go on a midweek morning, and in future I will be making sure to go during such a quiet time. If you're ever in Ireland during the summer, this event should be high on your list, assuming you have an interest in gardening or photography.
