I don't know about you but I'm having a sense of deja vu these days. Recent events are seriously reminding me of the years following 9/11 and leading up to the Iraq war. Hell some of the same people that were advocating for war back then are once again close the centers of power.
I'm not sure what exactly it is about the foreboding tone but there is just something about how the mainstream cable news talking heads are drumming this up in tandem that is ringing alarm bells for me. I've seen this before. The recent attempt by Israel to publicize Iran's now defunct covert nuclear program was a flop but I think they will continue to try and frame Iran as a nuclear threat.
In the years just after 9/11 the thought of open war with Iraq seemed far off when they started talking about it more and more. No they wouldn't do it. Iraq wasn't behind 9/11 they won't divert resources from the Afghan war. They'll figure something out, there are more options. The drums kept drumming and the next thing you know America had invaded Iraq.
It's the same feeling I have now. They won't possibly go to war with Iran will they? No there are other options they can talk their way out of it. They have a deal errr now they had a deal. Maybe they can make a new deal? Wait a minute the state department has been gutted, the President is highly impressionable and surrounded by war hawks. Oh shit, they are going to do this.
What do you think fellow Steemians? Is the USA already headed down a road to war with Iran? I'm going to make a prediction that within two years Donald Trump will order an attack on Iranian forces and kick off a shit show in the middle east. I hope I'm wrong.
