Afternoon steemians,
I have found solitude in the insurance office while I write this due to the glorious icy air conditioning.
Today I registered the car in Bulgaria.
This takes a whole day to change a registration in Bulgaria from one registration to another I kid you not.
Started last week when I registered my Navara 4 wheel drive for insurance, so basically the vehicle here is covered third party but they give it to you with no number.
Then this morning I was up to the tune of 5.30am this morning.
So a cup of coffee and wash later it was out the house and headed for the KAT building which is everything to do with cars.
Why so early??
Glad you ask, because vidin is close to Romanian and Serbian borders many people buy new cars in other countries and then fetch them here to register. So I was in a queue of ten cars waiting to enter at 9 am. It was a nice cool morning and I was listening to the radio, snoozing to myself while listening to Sia.
My translated was due to come at 8.30 who I met and then we waited for the gates to open.
So 9am comes and they open the gates and you drive to the entrance, where a man will check your paperwork. Basically the car registration document, the insurance, residency card and passport.
Then you go and park the car and that's when the fun begins. You go into the building and stand in a narrow corridoor with a queue of people in front of you. Then you get to a window and hand over your paperwork, then you are given paperwork to complete, then you complete it and the information is entered on the computer.
Then you go back to the car and wait to get it inspected. There were six cars ahead of me so there was a bit of waiting. And it did not help that the sun was beaming down making it really hot.
Eventually it got to our turn, but because I had a four wheel drive they could not test the breaks which meant I had to go to a different testing station later.
After the testing they said the break horse power was not on the document, so we had to take the car to another garage. Where they documented how much break horse it had to take back to the inspection place.
But then it was lunch time and the building shuts down, it was so hot I didn't want to eat just to drink, so the translator and I stopped and had a soda and waited half and hour before we went back for round two.
This story is rather long isn't it?? But if your enjoying it let me know and I will post up part two of what happened.
