Music has the power to uplift and inspire and has been around since the human race began, it is in my opinion why humans developed a greater sense of unity and love for one another.
We are all born with music in our blood, its a craving that can only be satisfied by each individuals tastes.
Ray Charles was a musician, song writer and composer that live from 1930-2004. He was referred to as "The Genius", he was also nick-named "The high priest of the soul"
He experimented in combining genres such as Rhythm in blues, gospel and blues. He was one of the first African-American musicians to be granted record access by a mainstream record company.
My life is ruled by the music I listen to, it shapes and forms me, it picks me up out of my darkest moments and allows me to see that there is a way to find momentary relief from my pains and problems. When I slip my headphones on I am lost in a world where my mind is free.
I find joy not only in listening to others music but in learning to play it myself, I find the most relief in playing piano and any other instrument I can find.
How music affects our moods
Music is considered a natural anti-depressant, the reason for this is because music bring you a euphoric high which is similar to the relief anti-depressant medications can bring.
The Brain
Music taps into various sections of the brain and is used by some experts to treat patients that suffer from anxiety or depression. The reason for this is that the meter,t timber, rhythm and pitch are controlled in parts of the brain that also deal with emotion and mood. The areas are the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and the parietal lobe.-The hippocampus, is a part of the limbic system, which is responsible for spacial orientation, navigation and the consolidation of new memories. It also brings about emotional responses.
-The prefrontal cortex handles extreme impulses and emotion. It is known as 'the seat of good judgment', it enables you to make good and acceptable calls so that inappropriate behavior is prevented.
Because of its ability to alter other parts of the brain, music is able to be utilized to treat patients that have suffered from a stroke, it is recommended to stutterers to help with the correct dictation of words.
Music can make you happy
Music can motivate you
Many songs are filled with inspirational meaning such as "Eye of the tiger" and "I will survive" that can uplift your mood. the messages hidden with in and the feeling of singing along to these songs can motivate you to get up and try again, or even inspire you to try something new.
Music modifies your brain waves
Music can not only change your current disposition, even long after you turn off the device, the music that you where listening to can change your brain waves, leaving you in a better mood for not only a couple minutes but can be up to a couple of days.
