Rice and Prayer - The saving grace of my laptop
My experiences this past few weeks has inspired me to use Faith as the topic for today.
A week ago, I was working against better judgement on my bed with my laptop. My daughter brought me some water to take my medication and I decided to balance the rest on my bed to drink a little later. Needless to say, I was so focused on my work that I forgot about the unbalanced glass of water on my bed and knocked it over. I quickly dried off my laptop not knowing the water went through my on switch and USB portal and continued working without a problem, well so I thought. The next morning, as I switched my laptop on I realized that I could have water damage because it was unresponsive even after being charged throughout the night. I was frantic as I have two projects due and a math final in the next two weeks. I could not believe my luck because the past few months everything that could go wrong did.
I decided this is not going to happen to me again so I started to pray, complaining. Being 4 in the morning I had to wait till a decent time to call on my boys for advice. They nearly folded double with laughter because I did not know that if any technology gets wet you need to open it up and put it in rice as it absorbs the water. I soaked my laptop in rice with a desperate belief that this will do the trick. My dilemma was that in my country, they send the laptops to the manufacturer to repair and that can take between 2-6 weeks which I did not have. Having faith that it will work again I tried to switch my laptop on every day without joy. Contemplating whether or not I needed to buy a new one I gave it one more try on the 4th day, to my surprise it went on.
Moral of the story is that we should have faith and pray even for the small things in life.
I love this quote as I have experienced this in my life way too often. I prayed for nearly 9 years and it seems like the time is still not ready for this prayer of mine to be answered and yet I have faith that all happens when the time is right, it gives peace of mind knowing this.
We all have times in our lives where we become fearful of that which we have to face but we should always remind ourselves from whom it comes, this will help you turn that fear into hope, knowing that if you practice faith all will be well.
When I was facing challenges during my divorce, I had a very wise lady telling me that I must keep the Faith as this too shall pass. Those few words I needed to hear that day as it gave me hope and motivated me to go on with a smile not being fearful.
Not even being Catholic, Mother Theresa always stood out to me because she had so much love, wisdom and charity in her little body, always going about influencing the world for good. I hope that I will play my little part and bring about change to those I come in contact with.
The best advice I ever got: If you cannot change something, relax and let go, have faith that whatever needs to happen will happen. When you let go you will find peace and acceptance.
Sometimes all we need is to take that leap of faith!!
