God detests sin, and idolatry is a sin. We fall short of God's glory whenever we partake in activities that denigrate God. The Israelites' lives demonstrate it. God's presence left them whenever they abandoned God and turned back to idols, which put them in dangerous situations like falling into the hands of their adversaries.
Idolatry should never be a choice for a believer. It is an act of disobedience to God. It separates us from God more. It is forbidden for a believer to submit to other gods. By doing this, hostility toward God is established.
The Bible helps us realise that we are gods on this planet. This implies that we are superior to everything, even idols. To bow down to idols is to denigrate ourselves. Since idols are human creations, they are powerless. It is impossible for a creation to surpass its creator.
