Who we listen to is of great importance. It is not everything or everyone that we should pay attention to. This begs the question, who should we obey more; God or men?
Acts 5:29
We ought to obey God rather than men
The yardstick we measure our lives and how we do things should always be based on the standards of God and not of man. Abraham had a history of idolatry from the lineage the preceded him, but he didn't go ahead with the patterns of his fathers. He chose to walk in the path of the one true God.
The worse thing that we can ever imagine happening to us is when our trust in God is displaced, this can lead us away from the purpose of God. That was why God sent us His son Jesus; to take us from the path of darkness and bring us to the path of light.
It doesn’t make sense that the reason we are in darkness simply because our ancestors were in darkness during their lifetime. We have our own lives to live and choices to make.
