You're at the mall and you're looking for your car in that endless, massive parking lot. Or you went in the house and forgot to lock your car, but you don't want to go back outside. Has all hope been lost? No! Here's a simple way to increase the range of your car key remote:
Point and bring your remote key to within a couple centimeters of your chin; then press the desired button on your remote. Voila! You have extended the range of your remote by at least a few car lengths.
The reason this trick works is that the body is actually fairly electrically conductive, so when you point the remote at your chin the radio frequency electromagnetic radiation couples to the body which acts as an antenna, thereby increasing the range of the signal.
