Hey guys! I've been on Steemit for about 2 weeks, after discovering it from my crypto trading and really haven't discovered a use for it, personally. However, today something terrible happened and I didn't know where else to go, so here's my story Steemit!
So, I started trading in cryptos about a month ago, started with about 1100 AUD which is around 860USD (money I've saved from my birthdays and Christmas and stuff) , at the time i could buy 0.183bitcoins (after fees).
Since then I've been trading and doing quite well and today I ended up with around 0.33bitcoins which i planned to store on freebitco.in to earn interest while I shift my focus to studying for exams.
However, as the greedy type of person I am I decided to give my luck a try. I put in an amount and decided each time i lose, i'll double the betting amount. If i started at 0.01BTCs, I calculated it was around a 5% chance of losing enough times in a row to lose all my money. I started betting and less than 15 seconds later, all gone.
Completely in shock I panicked and bet the remaining bitcoins I had (around 0.04) and lost all of them too.
My whole month's worth of hard work and years of birthday money gone in less than 15 seconds.
I feel so stupid yet I know this is completely my fault and nothing can bring my money back but I guess this is a life long lesson; never gamble what you can't afford to lose.
I don't know what I'm going to tell my parents yet LOL
If anyone out there is thinking about doing something stupid like this, think twice.
