Hey folks here with my new Blog about Food and Health awareness in which I will highlight the health benefits associated with Cinnamon. We should add variety of foods in our diet because they have bio-active components in them that help in preventing many diseases and provide other health benefits.
Health Benefits of Cinnamon
Here are some of health aspects related to cinnamon:
High Source of Antioxidants
Cinnamon contains a variety of protective antioxidants that reduce the damage caused by free radicals and delay the aging process, indeed, researchers have identified 41 different protective compounds of cinnamon. According to a recent study cinnamon has many anti-oxidants thus, ranks 7th in all foods worldwide. In a study comparing the antioxidant activity of 26 fragrances, cinnamon was considered a winner and was more potent in antioxidants than other potent herbs and spices (including garlic, thyme, rosemary and lemonade).
Anti-inflammatory Properties
Antioxidants in cinnamon have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer and decreased brain function. Researchers have identified seven types of flavonoids only in cinnamon, which are very effective against the level of dangerous inflammation in the body.
Protects Dental Health & Freshens Breath
In the study, it was found that extracts found in cinnamon have a protective effect on bacteria in the oral microflora, which can lead to bad breath, tooth decay, or oral infections. Cinnamon essential oils have been shown to be more effective than other test plant extracts and can be used to naturally fight bacteria in the oral cavity, just like a natural antibacterial mouthwash.
Prevent or Cure Candida
Some studies have concluded that the powerful antifungal properties of cinnamon can effectively prevent or treat Candida overgrowth of the digestive tract. Cinnamon has been shown to reduce the number of dangerous candida albicans, a yeast that causes the growth of Candida, which can cause a variety of digestive and autoimmune symptoms. In addition, another health benefit of cinnamon is that it helps control blood sugar levels, and excess sugar in the digestive tract is associated with an increased risk of Candida.
