Summer Flowers Lamp
I'm excited to share my recently completed project with you! This lamp, entitled "Summer Flowers" is now available on my website. This project is entirely handmade, with
hand-dyed silk charmeuse, an up-cycled 1890's blouse, antique French silk ribbon flowers, and hand stung beads and a fully-restored vintage Toleware base.
Side view
The sides of the shade are covered in silk and metal mesh that I purchased in France, from Sophie Hallette lacemakers.
Bead View
The shade contains over 2,500 hand-strung beads, including Czech crystals and 10-K gold-plated metal beads.
Back View
The back of the shade is covered first with silk, then a layer of antique silk lace from an 1800's blouse. The pattern is like nothing I've even seen.
Unlit View
Silk lamps can appear entirely different when unlit. Here's a look at the lamp when unlit.
If you are interested in viewing the step-by-step process by which this lamp was made, please see my prior blog post, entitled "Making Beaded Victorian Lampshades"
Thanks so much for viewing. I'm off to start another lamp.
