To celebrate Hive account@cleansingpoetry as a new bid bot for poetry promotion; I’m offering this pantoum poem of the Desert Poem shared on Steemit already. A pantoum has a set pattern where the second and fourth lines of a verse are repeated as the first and third lines of the next verse. Both poems created in the Inlandia Institute writing workshop with Professor Ruth Nolan.

Between here and there
On a stretch of highway in the Mojave Desert
With sand and shrubs
And Joshua Trees

With a gust of Santa Anna winds

A Bentley Brooklands rests

The driver’s door opens
A Bentley Brooklands rests
Crocodile skin boots crush gravel

Heat filled road tar

He-whose-name-is-hidden

God eyes survey the land

Walking into the Mojave Desert

Filled with unmarked graves

A lost place in the badlands
