Dear Steemit friends and followers,
Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I will certainly please all horror fans and dark tourism enthusiasts as I will take you to one of the creepiest places in the country, the infamous Museum of Torture in Prague.

Located in reconstructed basement spaces under the Celetna Street in the historic center of Prague, the Museum of Torture is a unique exhibition of medieval torture instruments, historical engravings, ancient books, wax figures and other historical artifacts.

Showing the brutality of the medieval era in full extent, the museum should definitely be avoided by the faint-hearted and young children. There are more than a hundred exhibits in the museum and the dark atmosphere of the place is further enhanced by terrifying audio-visual effects that add an uncomfortably authentic feel to the disturbing experience.

The Museum of Torture occupies a total area of 400 sq m (4,300 sq ft) and the tour (available in several languages) usually takes about one hour. It is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, all year round. The basic entrance fee is 160 CZK (6 EUR/7SD) per person, discount price for families is 420 CZK (17 EUR/19USD).
