Located in South Moravia, just some 23 km (14 mi) outside the city of Zlin, Uherske Hradiste (translated as Hungarian Gord) is a mid-sized Czech town with a population of about 25,000.
Founded as early as in 1257 by the Czech king Otakar II (hence a royal town), Uherske Hradiste has always been a center of the Slovacko Region, a part of South Moravia famous for unique folklore, traditions, music, architecture and most notably – wine production.
Visitors interested in the traditions of the region should not miss out on the Slovacko Museum where they can learn many interesting things about the history and culture of the region.

The historic center of the town has a status of protected conservation area as there are many important historic buildings there such as the Town Hall, the St. Francis Xavier Church, the Plaque Column found on the Marian Square etc.

Once you get enough of strolling the town´s picturesque streets and squares, you can head out to explore surrounding landscape that is just as impressive. There are many beautiful vineyards in the vicinity of the town as well as numerous great hiking trails and bike lanes.
