Dear Steemit friends and followers,
Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I will take you to one of the most beautiful and charming natural places of the country, the stunning spot known as Velka Amerika.

Also known as the Czech Grand Canyon, Velka Amerika (translates as “Big America”) is a partly flooded, abandoned limestone quarry located just some 20 km (12 mi) outside of Prague. Mining of limestone ceased decades ago but the place has been a popular and sought-after spot for tourists and also divers as the crystal-clear water provides excellent conditions for scuba diving.

Wild swimming is officially not allowed anymore in Velka Amerika as the quarry has already claimed several casualties but you can still hike around the pit and take some really cool photos of it. Once you do, make sure to share them with us in my daily Prague / Czech Republic Photo Challenge ;)
Please feel free to check out some of my other recent posts.
