Steem has been a great journey for me and a great learning experience. A lot of the topics here is how to make this project successful. Recently I have heard comparing this platform as the greatest startup in the world! Excited to be a part of it.
So, we have a proof of concept here running for three years now and evolving all the time. Like mentioned a lot of the times people ask the question. How to make this great start up, possibly the biggest of our time successful? One of the answers and probably the most important one is INVESTORS. We need investors to put money here, push the price up, new users coming, pushing the price even more up, and so on, creating a great spiral in the positive. Investors usually don’t have a lot of time. People with money, but no time. This is an effort to make it easier for them.
So here it is. A post about Steem for investors. I started writing this post back in March 2019. This is a third edition of it. I don’t have a schedule about it, just make it when I feel there is something new to add. Tribes are a great new thing. HF21 also is. Let’s see this from an eye of investor.
Investing trough delegation (Steem Power)
The Steem blockchain is a blockchain of opportunities. Maybe you have a friend who don’t want to get that much in the crypto world. Ain't time for that time for that 😊. What are the possibilities for investing with Steem and get some passive income?
The delegation option is amazing tool on the Steem blockchain. It allows new business and apps to start easy with delegations from the community, and at the same time allows the Steem Power holders to earn something with delegation. The most wonderful thing of this concept is that, this is basically risk-free investment. You don’t give your Steem to the project but lending it. There is also no commitment to give away the SP for a certain period. Everyone can undelegated at any time he wishes. The delegator has a total control on his asset.
Probably the most of the Steemians are aware of the delegating option. Just don’t know do they appreciate enough. To an outsider this can be very attractive. Instead of just investing in some crypto and hoping for the best, you can buy some STEEM power it up, delegate it and start earning. This can be a great argument to Steemians to bring some new people here 😊.
Promotional services - aka bid bots
Bid bots in my opinion are still the most obvious way to delegate/invest. The payments are daily and in STEEM. Not a different token. If you are long enough on Steemit you know how the posts end up on trending. They buy their votes trough services that offers exactly that. A liquid STEEM for a big vote. These services need a lot of SP to deliver a big vote. Long story short, one can delegate SP to them and have a passive income in Steem. The ROI is a not crazy number, it is somewhere around 1.5 to 2% per month. But it is better than nothing. It is also reasonable. Because projects with crazy numbers for ROI usually doesn’t ends well.
One of the most known promotion service is . It has a nice web https://smartsteem.com and interface. Other are
,
,
etc. If you have significant investment you can diversify between some of these.
HF21 impact on bid bots
This a long topic. Here I will just mention the basics.
First, the curation rewards will increase so it is expected to have a better ROI from this. But then, there will be downvoting, blacklisting etc. The promotional services will need to be more careful who and what they promote. The ones who will promote posts with the least downvotes will have the best ROI. Still need to see how this will turn out in real time.
Delegating to projects for tokens
This is another great way of delegating. Projects usually needs some SP to support their user base trough upvotes or to give them enough RC to play on the blockchain. In return you get tokens.
There are more and more projects out there now and choosing the right one can be hard. Steem Engine made it possible for the STEEM tokens to be traded, so most of them are liquid now and can be traded immediately. No frozen assets.
Here are some of the projects for delegating at the moment.
Steemmonsters/Splitnerlands
This project is on the top of the list and well deserved. The Steemmonsters game is now one year old, with its developers and
proven to the community. You need to delegate to the
account and will receive daily amounts of DEC tokens. The DEC tokens are traded on SteemEngine and TronWatch as well. I have delegated around 400 SP and I’m receiving somewhere between 40 to 50 DEC tokens. That is around 1500 DEC per month. I have noticed that in time I’m getting less DEC. Obviously, the ROI on this will depend on the price of STEEM and DEC at the moment, and it will change as those change as well. In USD now it is somewhere around 2 to 3% per month. Another way to earn passive income from Splinterlands is buy cards and rent then. Those go easily for 3% monthly ROI.
Steemhunt
Steemhunt is another great project to delegate to. They are rewarding HUNT tokens to delegators on the account. For 100 SP they are rewarding around 13 HUNTS per week or around 55 HUNTS per month. The price of the HUNT token is 0.07$ at the moment. The token is listed on Daybit. Also, they are paying out some small amounts of STEEM and SBD. The ROI on this one with the current prices is around 1.5% per month. The team is preparing to launch the Reviewhunt platform soon, that can have a positive impact on the token price.
Actifit
Actifit has been around for a year now. The delegators to Actifit receive daily amount of AFIT tokens. At the moment they are giving 18 AFIT per day for 100 SP delegated to the account. For a month that is around 540 AFIT tokens. This number can vary as they have a cap of maximum 100k AFIT tokens daily and as the delegations increase the tokens per SP decreases. The internal exchange rate for AFIT is 0,036$. But to get this price one need to post a report via the actifit app and buy a vote from the web interface on actifit.io. The Actifit token is free to trade from recently on Steem-Engine. The price can vary a lot in the range 0,0005$ to 0,001$. But I think this are the lowest values that we will see for the tokens, since the token was let free on the market just recently after a year of accumulation from the community. They have plans to make things available to buy with it as well, that will increase demand.
Gambling dApps
Well we cannot ignore this one. They can be very controversial, but people have gambled and will continue to gamble. The project made an exit scam recently and this project are a bit hurt now with trust lost. There are still a lot of those project out there with some of the more familiar
and
. Both of them are rewarding tokens for their delegators. Both of the tokens are tradable on the Steem Engine. I won’t be calculating ROI here, because things can be very wild with price of the tokens moving 100% up and down in a day. But if you are willing to take some risk these can be for you.
There are a lot more projects out there, here I will mention Road of Rich, a new high quality game coming to Steem, that have bonuses for early delegators, then dlike, wherein, ect.
Tribes
Tribes are the hot new on the Steem blockchain and there are adding a lot of new opportunities. Here I will mention just a few of them. Palnet, SteemCoinPan, SteemLeo, Sportstalk, CreativeCoin, etc. Almost all the tribes have a voting bot, so to speak, where the users can buy steem vote with the token of the tribe and can also delegate to get daily tokens. So an investor can delegate some SP to the tribes voting account and get tokens of that tribe.
Example of Steem Investor Portfolio
Having in mind all the above it is obvious there is a lot of opportunities for investors in the Steem ecosystem. So how to choose where to invest in. If we take the classic investment approach for the Steem ecosystem that will means the following.
First invest the most in the most reliable and secure project for a lower but secure income. In our case that will be the bid bots. They are making payment in the native token STEEM, on a daily basis. The majority of the investment will go in this one. Next on the list will be the more proven projects, like Steemmonsters/Splinterlands, Steemhunt and Actifit. Last will be the tribes. They are all new and need to prove them self. But also, the possible return on these ones can be significant.
This is so to speak a standard portfolio for investing with Steem Power delegation. One can go a bit more conservative or riskier. If you want to go more conservative increase the share in bid bots. One to get a bit riskier, increase the share in tribes and brand new projects. In this way you can have a tailor made portfolio for everyone depending on their preferences.
Obviously, there are a lot of opportunities for investments on the Steem blockchain. New projects and the good old proven ones. There is a story to be sold here. Now all we need to do is bring some big boys here.
