The United States of AI?

As technology advances and AI becomes more ubiquitious, will the processes required to run a government someday be outsourced to AI? Artificial intelligence theoretically could become the most oppressive dictatorship in history as it can micromanage all aspects of our lives using big data analytics. As data becomes more open, as privacy is decreased, the AI could have more access to data or in specific the learning algorithms would become more effective with greater quantity and quality of data.
- What will the role of nations states be if there is a sudden AI breakthrough in the near future?
- Is there a limit to the human desire to micromanage the lives of other humans?
- Is there a limit to how intrusive, how oppressive, or how efficient AI could be in the ultimate authoritarian nightmare scenario?
- How might law enforcement use AI?
What could it be like to be governed entirely by AI?
